A very large image, e.g., a map, can only be accessible in its entirety if placed / printed on a floor. However, things on the floor get stepped on, so the printing technology must be very durable. It will get dirty, so will need to be regularly cleaned, so the printing technology must be durable to cleaning methods. Does such highly durable, high resolution (comparable or exceeding paper) printing technology exist? Perhaps some monstrously expensive 3D printing.
Inspiration was that a state Capitol building ought to provide a very large map of the state in its rotunda.
If we don't mind breaking the image, an exploded rectangular tessellation on tables would work.
