A chess variant in which, if a player has his or her king (royal piece) captured, he or she must spend the next move symbolically crowning one of his or her remaining pieces with royalty. The new royal piece does not change in movement ability. The player cannot move any pieces during that turn; this is the penalty for having one's king captured. The opposing player essentially gets to make two moves in a row. (This could be tweaked to more than two.)
Game ends at annihilation.
