The camera is aimed at your hands, and the display shows the other person's hands. This is an interesting way to communicate: silent, and requiring no additional equipment such as a keyboard, microphone, or speaker. Possibly difficult for the surveillance state to constantly and automatically eavesdrop and understand.
Already existing sign languages move the hands and arms all over, requiring a high resolution camera and display. Develop a smaller sign language which keeps the arms still. Finger spelling is one possibility, but I think something more sophisticated is possible. How many distinct shapes can be made with one hand? With two? Need to avoid transitions between shapes from forming legitimate shapes.
