A good hoax (on the internet) has some amount of believability plus something extra which induces people to virally share it with friends. It evokes some powerful feeling, perhaps hope or anger.
A successful viral hoax may reveal things about society that weren't otherwise readily apparent. Such acts therefore ought to be rewarded, despite being trollish.
Inspired by April Fool's Day. Many people hate AFD because it reveals things about themselves they wish they didn't know.
