What would the world be like if eminent domain were more easy to invoke to build rail lines? Would we have more rail? Or are there further, equally challenging, difficulties beyond acquiring property?
Inspired by the thought that, the reason horribly greenhouse-gas producing air travel is popular is because airplanes do not have to acquire property along their routes. Trains I assume are way more fuel efficient than planes (and cars). If so, it is another example of a political effect, NIMBY with regards to a rail line passing through, that is exacerbating global warming.
