The Big Belly solar powered canisters are deployed as a pair: one trash and one single-stream recycling.
Does the recycling canister compact the contents like the trash side? That would thwart being able to sort out the different recycling types out of the single stream. Then, if not, where does the power generated in its solar panel go?
Where do the bottle deposit redemptions for the recycling go? Crushing a can or bottle may obscure the UPC code needed to redeem a deposit.
The design of the recycling canister lid thwarts street people from reaching in to fetch redeemable items. Is (someone) being able to make more revenue from deposits instead of street people part of the business decision to deploy Big Belly Recycling instead of the previous recycling canister? Is that street people will have less incentive to wander about your area another part of the business decision?
The latter two do not make the world a better place; in fact, they increase income inequality as well as promote the "out of sight, out of mind" mentality toward dealing with the homeless.
