[udifqsir] Reinforcing beliefs

The common argument goes, a certain popular media "reinforces" an undesirable belief, so should be censored.  For example, racist, sexist.

What is meant by "reinforces"?  People watch what they want to watch; hear what they want to hear, even on the micro level: if a mixture of what they like and dislike, they tend to ignore the part that they disagree with.

So why do people actually want to watch and hear such bad things (the media feeds people what they want)?  Will censorship actually be effective?

Hypothesize that people innately want to have boundaries, roles, to fit into a designated place in society.
