How you remember an event is often shaped by other people, for example a 3rd-party photographer or storyteller. The third party mementos fill in gaps or emphasize certain aspects of your memory. This is potentially problematic, if what they want you to remember is not aligned with what you want to.
What technologies exist, or should be developed, to solve this problem? What is the full nature of the problem? I would not be surprised if there is underlying strategic behavior.
Keep a diary.
