[btgixyhy] Deck of cards as chess set

Transform a deck of cards into a chess set.  One player gets red cards, other black.  King and queen are obvious.  Let bishop be jack, knight 9 and rook 10.  Pawns are A 2 3 4.  These conventions require memorization, maybe the mnemonic Night Nine and Tower Ten.   There are even extra queens in case of promotion.

The remaining 20 (with joker) cards are placed face down horizontally to help designate some of the dark squares: a1 c1 e1 g1 h2 h4 h6 h8 f8 d8 b8 a7 a5 a3, c3 e3 f4 f6 d6 c5. If omitting extra queens, also b4 and g5. With two more decks, one with a different back, one can create a full board.

If you don't mind destroying the deck for card playing, fold the face-up piece cards in a V-shape easier to pick up.

Cards are an interesting example of flippable chess pieces.
