[hhwfjlnm] Education for a service economy

I've heard that the U.S. primary education system was designed to produce good workers for the manufacturing sector.  (As such, perhaps it needed stupid people.) How should the education system be altered if a great majority of graduates are headed to the service sector instead nowadays?

But not everyone will go into the service sector.

Will the education system naturally reorient itself to reflect the demands of the economy?
