[ezyesofz] Privacy

Should I keep some piece of information about myself private, or should I share it with selected others (which others?) or should I make it public?

The information in the hands of benevolent entities might make my life better; malevolent (even seemingly non-malevolent) entities could hurt me with it.  How do I know if the good will outweigh the bad?

The fundamental problem is that I can't predict the future.

A plan for fixing society involves limiting the harm that malevolent entities can do with your information.  Let us try to enumerate the kinds of harm.

Those who are better at hiding personal information have better employment prospects.  Better dating and mating prospects.  Better reputation, and consequently more power and influence.

Conceal plans to oppose powerful organizations or governments.

The element of surprise is always tactically advantageous.

(These are imperfect information games.)
