Create a list of things people like. Broad patterns will emerge: People can only like the simple, elegant, etc. There are likely other categories, and the story is likely much more complicated, but I believe it is limited.
But there are things that need to be done -- jobs -- that I suspect are inherently unlikeable. You may be among the lucky to get paid doing what you like to do, but not everyone can have that. Assuming optimal allocation, what percentage can? 0.001%? 50%?
Technology will change things, with machines doing unlikeable tasks.
