In the far, far future, the surfaces of neutron stars and white dwarf stars will have cooled enough to possibly support life. And certainly they have enough gravitational pull to attract life-seeding comets or asteroids if necessary.
What will life look like on those worlds? Intelligent life will have a very difficult time at space exploration, physically getting off the ground.
