Create an input method (e.g., soft keyboard) with which you can quickly type not just letters but words and partial words defined in Braille's grade 2 contractions.
The point here is to leverage the tremendous amount of work that has gone into defining a "good" set of contractions to compress English text. The exact rules of Braille need not be followed: e.g., typing ho#ad, where # is the contraction for "the", still enters the word hothead, even though it wouldn't be proper Braille.
The alternative is to computationally derive a good set of contractions automatically from a corpus.
