Create an app which displays a rotating gem.

However, unlike the original inspiration, this version puts considerable effort into computer graphics for a maximally stunning animation of a flawless gem.

Set the index of refraction to that of diamond, or greater.  Regular people almost never see bulk transparent materials with high indices of refraction; they definitely look different than glass.

Many other possible CG effects.  Every frame is fully ray traced.  Chromatic aberration ("fire").  Perhaps fluorescence, diffraction, asterisms.

Antialiasing, including subpixel, down to the pixel layout of every device's display.

Avoid lossy video compression.

What should the cut be?  The cut may be extremely difficult, or perhaps impossible in a real diamond due to crystal planes not cooporating.
