Create a fictional account of what went on behind the scenes during the Egyption revolution deposing Mubarak and the aftermath (still unfolding in the real world).
Assume that the local nuclear superpower, Israel, prefers the status quo, the enemy it knows rather than the one it doesn't, perhaps the corrupt head of state many times confirmed as willing to take bribes rather than a democracy potentially much more difficult to manipulate. But of course, it cannot publicly say that.
If there ever were a setting for a story of intense secretive intrigue it would be this: money, power, secret meetings, unofficial information, official denials, militaries on high alert, nuclear threats, spies, spies spying on spies, attempts to manipulate the populace, blocking Facebook, anointing a successor, assassins on loan... and pyramids! The whole time the clock is ticking ticking ticking before the whole country goes up in flames and everybody loses.
The truth, if ever revealed, will probably be stranger than fiction, though one could make it a contest to see who gets closest.
