Add a simple reaction time test to the driver's license renewal process: screen turns red, press the pedal. If you fail the test, then you take the street driving test (just in case the reaction test was wrong).
Such a test would likely eliminate many elderly drivers who, in statistically frequent accidents, cause a great deal of damage and loss of life in victims.
But I predict this will never come to pass because old people vote, and don't want their privilege to drive taken away from them, no matter how much harm they cause. Democracy in action!
On the age scale, this is the opposite of the drinking age issue mentioned earlier.
