Single elimination (to avoid collusion), three days per round.
Matches of say 8 rapid games over two days, then tiebreaker on the third day: Four blitz games, followed if necessary by pairs of blitz games until someone takes the lead. Theoretically infinite, but highly likely to be short given the nature of blitz. (Armageddon changes the nature of the game too much.)
No slow chess: if you want mistake-free chess, go watch a computer program.
