Amongst normal matter, life exists because of two fundamental forces: gravity which brings matter together, and the electromagnetic force, which defines chemistry.
WIMPs which might make up dark matter also obey at least two forces: gravity, and some repulsive force which prevents dark matter from undergoing complete gravitational collapse. (Though maybe not with no way to dissipate the kinetic energy.) The force might be the weak nuclear force.
Could there be life built out of WIMPs?
Life needs energy. What energy sources are there? Gravitational waves are one.
Because dark matter almost never interacts with normal matter, we can't see them, and they can't see us. Though they might be mystified by highly concentrated gravitational fields, e.g., formation of black holes.
