Advances in technology have made the Fischer clock popular and prevalent, and consequently we have fewer good games ruined by a silly blunder in time trouble.
Now, even further advances in technology (yes, the limiting factor here was technology, not philosophy) permits another improvement in game quality: being able to take back a move (or more). The catch is, when you take back a move, your opponent's clock is reset back to what it was before your new move, but your clock is not.
In order to keep track of clocks and moves, and provide a UI to allow a player to revert the game and rewind the opponent's clock appropriately, we will need a computer interface (yay computers!) rather than wooden pieces and detached clocks.
Will games terminate?
