Happy new year and birthday

For the purposes of government age limitation and identification, everyone's birthday can be January 1 of the year they were born. For examples, voting, drinking. No one will get younger in the transition. There will be a few people born in December who get to be up to 364 days older than their biological age. I believe society is well equipped for some extra debauchery that this might induce on New Year's day.

Your actual birthday may be a piece of private information that you only share with friends and the government benefits none from knowing it to a precision better than a year.

It works kind of like this in China.
