let there be peace on earth.  but do you understand why there is war?  do you want to understand?

be kind to one another.  but do you understand why people are unkind?  do you want to understand?

be wary of policymakers -- people with power, perhaps you as a voter -- who don't understand, who don't want to understand.  often, people and policymakers don't want to understand -- don't want you to understand -- because they satisfied with the status quo, with current power structures that place them on top, in control, and peace and kindness are tools to maintain the status quo.
