Take a rectangle, pick a point inside, probably a lattice point, and divide the rectangle into 4 rectangles. Color the four pieces black or white in a checkerboard pattern (two ways).
Probably consider starting rectangles of a few different heights.
Instead of coloring a quarter straight black, fill it in with a half circle (ellipse), quarter circle, or triangle. Kerning possibilities.
